“Light Network” is a wireless association of BLU Ecosystem™ “Lights” and control “Devices”. You can have up to 100 (Lights + other) in a “Light Network”. We recommend that you have one “Light Network” for each distinct room or area. ie. Per office, classroom, hallway, etc.
The app may require access to your photo folder if it is to save or open a QR code such as is generated for the “Virtual Remote”. The “Daily Cycle” function uses geo-location to automatically set “Sunrise” and “Sunset” times.
BLU BaRS™ were designed to replace fluorescent and LED tubes one for one and BLU DRiVe™ to replace ballasts one for one. Most often this will be one or two BLU BaRS™ per single BLU DRiVe™. You can use more BLU BaRS™ but realize that the light output per BLU BaR™ will drop as current remains constant.
We offer a number of different motion sensors for different applications. You can use sensors per light or per room and different sensors based on ceiling height and sensitivity range. The default state of our sensors is to be disabled at the installation – first power on. The SMART BLU™ CLOUD app must be used to “Enable” the sensor.
The app allows you to set “sensitivity” on a 0 – 100 range (if available for your particular sensor). The app also includes 2 adjustable timers (0.25 mins – 59 mins) and an adjustable dim level slider (1%-100% brightness level). When the sensor sees motion it continually starts Timer 1. When the sensor does not see motion it allows timer 1 to start counting down. If timer 1 reaches the end of it’s countdown then timer 2 will begin counting down and the light level will adjust to the level set on the slider. If at any time motion is seen the whole process starts again. If timer 2 reaches the end of it’s countdown, the lights will turn off.
Note that you can set timer 2 to infinity which means that the lights will never go off. This can be useful in parking garages and stairwells or any 24/7 application.
When setting the timers for a new installation we recommend that longer countdowns are used so that lights do not become a nuisance by tripping off too early. To gain acceptance it is important that people are made aware of the benefits that the technology provides (ie. Power savings and reduced environmental impact) and that the automation set points are
not oppressive. You can start with longer countdowns and gradually
reduce to optimum levels.
Daily Cycle™ is an option you can choose in the SMART BLU™ CLOUD app that provides dynamic color and brightness change through the course of a day. This is our simple way of providing Circadian Rhythm lighting. If you are interested in learning more about this, please click here.
We have upgraded many of our 3PL warehouse properties with LED fixtures from J2 Light®, some with wireless controllers and almost all with motion sensors. Our office staff are very happy with the improved light quality at their desks, and the high-bay warehouse lighting has improved our floor visibility even in fully racked high-rise warehouse areas. The energy savings from the LED fixtures themselves have provided benefits, but J2 has been instrumental in helping drive down total energy consumption through expert zone setups and motion sensor configurations. All of this has dramatically lowered our electric utility costs across millions of square feet of facilities.
